In this article I will share my thoughts on the Amacx Isotonic Sports drink that can be mixed as an isotonic sports drink or as thirst quencher. The lemon flavored sports drink can be used before and during the exercise and the box contains 1.8 kg of powder.
Over the years I’ve tried and tested the 2:1 sports drinks from various brands: Maxim, Born Sports Care, Powerbar and some others like Skratch Labs, High5 or SIS.

Amacx Isotonic Sports Drink or rehydration drink
“Amacx Isotonic Sports drink is a 2 in 1 sports drink that you can adapt to your own needs. With isotonic Sports drink there is no need to buy two different products anymore. You can easily adjust your dosage if you want to switch between a sports drink or a rehydration drink.”
Over the years I’ve tried and tested the 2:1 sports drinks from various brands: Maxim, Born Sports Care, Powerbar and occasionally some others like High5 or SIS. Testing Amacx Isotonic Sports drink was simply adding a new brand to the list.
Amacx Isotonic Sports drink was part of a Hydration Deal on the Duursport.nl website. That deal provided an excellent value for money, where you get 1.8 kg of power to make Amacx Isotonic Sports drink or rehydration drink (depending on your needs). It is well described on the backside of the Amacx box:
- For rehydration drink you need to put 1 1/2 scoops in a water bottle of 500 ml.
- For sports drink you need to put 2 1/2 scoops in a water bottle of 500 ml.
Personally I like the lemon taste and it is not to sweet. That’s something I prefer on warmer days, just like the Skratch Labs green tea flavor. In terms of value for money it also beats the Born Sports Care drink, that costs about € 10,– for a box of 400 grams.
Amacx – Started as a duursport.nl brand
Amacx started as the house-brand of Duursport.nl, an online shop that sells sports nutrition and other supplements for endurance athletes. However the brand Amacx exists for some time now and focuses on the Dutch and Belgian market, and is sold through different distribution channels as well (not just Duursport.nl).
Amacx Sports Nutrition collaborates on the Dutch system for Anti Doping in Sports Nutrition: NZVT (Nederlands Zekerheidssysteem Voedingssupplementen Topsport). Within this system batches of sports nutrition are tested to make sure the supplements are clean from prohibited substances. Over the years in cycling some athletes have been surprised by “unclean” supplements, so excellent move from Amacx Sports Nutrition.
World Tour Team Qhubeka Assos is also supplied with Amacx Sports Nutrition. So the Giro 2021 stage wins of team Qhubeka Assos are done with proper training and fuel of Amacx.
Concluding thoughts and wrap-up
I’ve tested Amacx Isotonic Sports drink or rehydration drink over a longer period of time. In practice I put the dosage somewhere between sports and rehydration, where I like the lemon taste without becoming to sweet.
Personally I cannot feel or measure the difference in performance to other brands like Born Sports Care, Maxim, Powerbar, High5 or SIS. And if Amacx Sports Nutrition is good enough to fuel the Qhubeka Assos World Tour Team, than it will be sufficient for me as well.
I’ve purchased the Amacx Isotonic Sports drink or rehydration drink as part of the Energy Hydration Deal on Duursport.nl The price point for just the 1.8 kg of powder is € 20,– which is an excellent value for money ratio if you ask me.
