Elite Neto Water Bottle Sterilizer

In this article I will write down my thoughts on the Elite Neto Water Bottle Sterilizer, that is used to sterilize and clean the Elite Fly and Elite Jet water bottles. Since the Elite Fly is one of my favorite water bottles, this was a nice accessory to purchase and test.

Key features Elite Neto Water Bottle Sterilizer

On the product page of the Elite Neto Water Bottle Sterilizer you can read the following product description:

Neto is Elite’s sterilizer that leverages the power of steam to eliminate up to 99.9% of mold and bacteria from plastic bottles. It’s designed for daily bottle users who want a fast, safe way to keep things truly clean—even after sports salts, supplements, or sugary drinks.

Fill the container to the marked level, insert the bottle, and microwave at 700 W: in 60 seconds the steam does the work, hygienizing every component. Neto uses only water to generate high-temperature steam. No additives, no chemicals.

The entire “one minute in the microwave” process relies on steam reaching every part of the bottle and staying in contact long enough to eliminate micro organisms.

The Elite Fly Team Water Bottles and Elite Jet bottles have been my favorite water bottles and work well with the Elite Rocko Carbon – and Tune Wasserträger 2.0 Carbon Bottle Cages. However I’m also using the well established Camelbak Podium Bottles in combination with Schmolke Lightweight Carbon Bottle Cages.

When using sports nutrition in the shape of Sports Drink or Electrolytes I always clean out the water bottles directly after the ride with clear water. Later I put them in the dish-washer as well. But the normal dishwasher program takes 2,5 hours and I don’t think that the dish washer will significantly increase the life span of the nozzles of the water bottles.

When you don’t dry or clean the nozzles properly (even coming from the dishwasher) you risk the growth of mold. When the Elite Neto Water Bottle Sterilizer was discounted I wanted to test, simply because it would be a matter of 60 seconds in the microwave. Moreover I was curious to learn if the Elite Neto would only be compatible with Elite Jet Water Bottles and Elite Jet water bottles or that other brands like the Tacx Daiya O2 would also fit well.

The grey rubber collar will perfectly fit the Elite Cycling bottles, but the Camelbak Podium also fits. The Tacx Daiya O2 doesn’t fit well given the thread of the cap (white) and the diameter of the upper part of the bottle.

Practical Use Elite Neto Bottle Sterilizer

If you can count to 5 than the practical use of the Elite Neto Water Bottle Sterilizer is easy, simply because it is a 3 step process.

  1. Decompose the Elite Fly Team water bottle, unscrew the cap and remove the rubber nozzle.
  2. Fill the Elite Neto Water Bottle Sterilizer to the marking and make sure the red grid is positioned well
  3. Put the water bottle parts in place.
  4. Set your microwave to 700 watts and put the Elite Fly Team water bottle and Elite Neto Water Bottle Sterilizer in the microwave for a minute.
  5. Recompose the Elite Fly Team water bottle, reinstall the rubber nozzle and screw the cap on.

It is an easy process I do more often, since I own the Elite Neto Water Bottle Sterilizer.

Concluding thoughts and wrap-up

The price point of the Elite Neto Bottle Sterilizer varies between € 17,00 – € 20,00. What I like is that I now disassemble the nozzle from the cap by using the Elite Neto Water Bottle Sterilizer. When I use the dishwasher, I never do this.

The Elite Neto is an easy to use accessory to keep the water bottles clean and tidy. As mentioned a couple of times in the article it will only take you 60 seconds per water bottle. I normally do this step in bulk for a couple of bottles.
