In this article I will review the 6D Sports Chew in flavor Grapefruit with additional caffeine. A sports chew is smaller bit with a gelly structure (vastly different from an energy bar, that has a more solid structure). Personally i always prefer not super sweet flavors and some added caffeine is nice, so I would go for a test. The 6D Sports Chew is formerly known as Energy Fruit.

The most important key aspect is the size. A complete energy bar is normally not something I eat in one go, but more bit-sized in a couple of attempts. The 6D Sports Nutrition Sports Chew is a compact fruit bar with 30 grams of carbohydrates (6D calls that a Sports Unit). Half a Sports Chew bar has the same size as the Isostar Energy Fruit Boost (in flavor Strawberry and also with caffeine) !
I prefer the grapefruit flavor simply because it is not to sweet (or “chemically” tasting). And just like NatuSport 6D Sports Nutrition is a company also focusing on digestibility of the carbo hydrates (or in other words the ability for your body to absorb the carbohydrates).
Finally sometimes you need a caffeine (and sugar) kick during a ride. I recall how a can of Coca Cola made the climb of La Redoute during Liege-Bastogne-Liege a bit more easy because of this combination. I really like that the Grapefruit flavored Sports Chew comes with 75mg of caffeine stimulating you muscles and brain a bit.

Before we go into the specific break down in nutritional values of the 6D Sports Nutrition Sports Chew in flavor Grapefruit with extra caffeine let’s have a look at the total amount of energy per 100 grams:

Concluding thoughts and wrap-up
The price point of 6D Sports Chew is € 22,50 for a pack of 10, which results in a price point of € 2,25 per Sports Chew or Energy Fruit. It is a fair price point and in line with the other nutrition brands I’ve reviewed on this website. I’ve purchased 6D Sports Nutrition at Jef Abels Bikes in Gulpen.
