In this article I will share my experience with the Wera 8011 Zyklop Mini 4 Bit ratchet, which is a fine-tooth 1/4″ bit ratchet, that has a 1/4″ bit-end as well so I can be used in combination with your preferred bit holder. I really like the Zyklop Mini 4 because you can work in really tight spaces but with sufficient torque to hand tighten.

Key features Wera Tools 8011 Zyklop Mini 4 Bit ratchet
On the product page of the Wera 8011 Zyklop Mini 4 Bit ratchet you can read the following product description.
- Suitable for direct bit placement with 1/4″ hexagon drive
- For bit hand holder with 1/4″ bit holder
- Wrought iron version
- Fine-toothed ratchet mechanism and a small return angle of 6°
- Ribbed thumb wheel for quick screwdriving
- With the Wera adapter 870/1, 1/4″ sockets can also be used
The dimensions of the Wera 8011 Zyklop Mini 4 Bit ratchet with EAN 05003662001 is roughly 50 mm x 15 mm x 11 mm. This is probably the smallest reversible ratchet that I have seen around. It is the same size as a normal 50 mm bit.
The very best feature is that it is a reversible ratchet, from which the direction can be changed with the flip of a switch (like you see on many reversible ratchets). It is a compact and 60 teeth fine tooth mechanism with a small return angle of 6°. Compare that to for example the 18° opening angle of the Hazet 863P 1/4″ Reversible ratchet. The Wera Zyklop 8000 Speed Ratchet has a 72 teeth finetooth mechanism, where the Wera Zyklop 8011 is in between the Hazet 863P and Wera Zyklop 8000.
Another important key feature the thumb wheel on the top of the ratchet. You can rotate the thumb wheel with thumb and index finger, when you need to rotate easier and probably faster. If you use the Wera 8011 without a handle, you are also significantly fast given the small arm-length of the ratchet.
I really like the Wera Zyklop 8011 Mini 4 bit ratchet in combination with the Wera 813 Kraftform Kompakt handle. This gives you a compact and fully functional reversible ratchet of less than 120 mm in length. So in a compact lightweight toolbox this is certainly a special “bit ratchet” that you want to pack (just like the BSCTools Shimano Preload Tool Bit for Hollowtech II Cranks).
With the Wera adapter 870/1, 1/4″ sockets can also be used in combination with this mini ratchet.
Concluding thoughts and wrap-up
The price point of the Wera 8011 Zyklop Mini 4 Bit ratchet is around € 25,00 which is a great addition to your 1/4″ bit collection or lightweight toolbox for traveling. It can provide in a lot of different use-cases, and features the well known Wera Tools quality. Foremost it is an excellent mini ratchet for small spaces.
- What compact ratchet do you use while performing maintenance on your bikes?
- Do you use any Wera Tools products? What were the decision criteria for that purchase?
