In this article I will share my thoughts on the Framesandgear Titanium Crank Arm Bolts M6x19 in color Black, that I use in combination with the Shimano Ultegra R8100 cranks. Just like the Kogel Bearings Shimano Crank Arm Fixing Bolt these titanium bolts are -from my point of view- a good upgrade to the default bike parts.

Why Choose Titanium?
Titanium offers an unmatched strength-to-weight ratio, ensuring durability without adding extra weight. It’s corrosion-resistant, making it ideal for all-weather use, and provides excellent stiffness for improved performance.
The titanium bolts are available in 6 different colors: Oilslick, Black, Trout, Gold, Gold Silver and titanium So if you want to stand out and customize your bike in a certain finish, this is a way to express your creative finish. I’ve opted for the black version that fits well with the Shimano Ultegra R8100 crankarms and the Kogel Bearings Shimano Crank Arm Fixing Bolt.
It is just like the black colored Framesandgear Titanium bolts for Canyon Gear Groove Mount that fit well with he SlopeRoad Gear Groove Computer Mount for Garmin & Wahoo in the Gear Groove interface of the Canyon CP0047 Integrated Cockpit of the Canyon Ultimate CF SLX 8 Di2.
In the past I have used titanium bolts on the Tune Wasserträger 2.0 Carbon Bottle Cage, the Carbonice Stummer Eugen chain catcher and the non-driveside crankarm bolts of the Shimano Dura Ace 9000 Hollowtech II cranks on the 2014 Canyon Ultimate CF SLX 9.0. For carbon bottle cages I use the Prototipo Works Ultra Low Bidon Cage Bolt.
So the durability and and strengths to weight ratio is well known. In pedaling-practice or weight savings you will not experience much of a difference or gain. My good old kitchen scales however show a weight of XX grams for two Crank Arm Bolts.
Installation Framesandgear Titanium Crank Arm Bolts M6x19
Installation of the Framesandgear Titanium Crank Arm Bolts M6x19 is very easy. On the Framesandgear product page you can read the following installation notes:
Install notes
- Clean the crank threads first
- Then start each bolt by hand to protect the threads
- Next, tighten to the torque spec from your crank manufacturer
While Canyon has simplified maintenance by using Torx TX25 bolts on the Canyon Aeroad, Canyon Ultimate and Canyon Endurace families of bikes, the Framesandgear Titanium Crank Arm Bolts have a Torcx TX30 head.
- Put some Weldtite TF2 Lithium Grease on the threads of the Framesandgear Titanium Crank Bolts
- Place the Framesandgear Titanium Crank Arm Bolts M6x19 on the Shimano Ultegra R8100 crankarm and handtighten the bolts (simply with a bit)
- Use the Stahlwille Manoskop 730N/2 Mechanical Torque Wrench 2-20 Nm to torque the Crank Arm Bolts to 12-14 Nm as prescribed on the sticker of Shimano
For installation I used the Weldtite TF2 Lithium Grease which is thinner and more friendly than the Morgan Blue Aquaproof Paste tightening these Crank Arm bolts.
Concluding thoughts and wrap-up
The price point of Framesandgear Titanium Crank Arm Bolts M6x19 is € 15,00 which is not super cheap, but given the durability, strength to weight ratio, and Framesandgear quality, it is a fair price point.
