In this article I will share my thoughts about the Cyclowax Pocket Wax that will help me keep up core performance while being out there on a gravel or road ride with a Molten Speedwax chain. I first noticed it by some riders, putting it in their back pocket during a dry and dusty race. This makes it also perfect for a short bike trip because it is a very compact and light package.

Both the color of this drip on wax from Cyclowax reminded me a bit about Cerabike Wax Lube that I have been using for a long time. The Pocket Wax comes in a super portable 30 ml bottle and in two variations:

In simple words these are liquid versions from the wax tablets used in the heater. But the Performance (Pocket) Wax should has longer re-waxing intervals and is more focused on the performance athlete that wants to get the lowest friction and best performance from the drivetrain. Therefore also € 10,00 more expensive.

Before applying the liquid wax you need to shake the bottle, while you can hear a ball doing the mixing of the ingredients inside. Preferably apply it the night before and let it dry / harden a bit but emergency gravel track lubrication will also work. 🙂

The price point of a 30 ml bottle of Cyclowax Core Pocket Wax is € 14,95 while the Cyclowax Performance Pocket Wax has a slightly higher price point of € 24,95. This is almost the same price as a Performance Wax tablet or 120 ml SILCA Super Secret Chain Wax. So I’m more than ok with the Cyclowax Core Pocket Wax version.
The Cyclowax Core Pocket Wax I put in my totsi cycling saddle bag of the Canyon Ultimate CF SLX 8.0 Di2 or the Arundel Pico Seat Bag on the Canyon Grizl CF SL8 1-by. Compact and light enough, but helpful to keep your chain smooth and without creaking noises.
