GripGrab Hi-Vis Toe Covers – Windproof for warm toes

In this article I will share my view on the GripGrab Hi-Vis Toe Covers that are windproof and water repellent. This excellent product keeps my toes warm and my white Side Wire SP shoes. Especially in spring and autumn or in the colder summer mornings, these toe covers are great to put on and give you warm toes without the need to wear full shoe covers.

Key features GripGrab Windproof Toe Covers

On the product page of the GripGrab Toe Covers the following description with key features of the covers:

The windproof and water resistant Toe Covers are ideal for spring and autumn road cycling. They are easy and quick to put on – just pull them over your shoes and they will offer protection from the elements.

This easy slip-on toe covers are made from windproof material to provide additional warmth during rides in transitional weather.

They cover the front of your cycling shoes, which is the most exposed area to wind chill, and keep your toes protected.

The toe covers can be removed quickly and stored in your jersey pocket when not needed. Compatible with most pedal systems.

The GripGrab Windproof Toe Covers is a no-brainer that in concept I almost use in a very similar way as a Gore Tex Infinium wind-blocker vest. You can use both the vest and the toe covers in a lot of weather scenarios. Both are easy to use and quick to put on and give a lot of protection.

While I’m using the GripGrab Toe Covers for the longest time with the Sidi Wire SP shoes both with the classic Speedplay cleats, and the walkable Speedplay cleats. The cleat hole in the toe cover is large enough for both types of Speedplay cleats. The sole portion of the GripGrab Toe Covers is made of reinforced material to delay wear of rubbing the cleat or when walking on the shoe.

I have also used the GripGrab Toe Covers with my Sidi Drako 2 SRS Carbon Matt Mountain Bike Shoes for both gravel and mountain biking. Only when the Sidi MTB Studs are attached, this will damage the nose of the toe cover (but that cannot be any surprise). So I’m using a set with GripGrab toe covers for off-road scenarios.

My girlfriend uses a pair of Sidi Wire Carbon shoes with Shimano PD-R550 SPD-SL pedals. She also uses the GripGrab Windproof Toe Covers without any issues.

Concluding thoughts and wrap-up

The price point of GripGrab Windproof Toe Covers is about € 20,00 for both the black or the high visibility yellow versions. It is a fair price point for a product I use a lot, and often I leave these on my Sidi Wire SP shoes for a couple of rides (not even removing these post-ride if they are not to dirty).

To summarize. I have both the black and the high visibility yellow version of the GripGrab Toe Covers and use these in both road and offroad scenarios. It keeps my toes warm and the noses of my shoes pretty clean.
