Stan’s Race Day Tubeless Sealant review

In this article I will share my experience with the Stan’s Race Day Tubeless Sealant for the Vittoria Mezcal Endurance Gravel tires powered by the Graphene compound. Stans is know for its rims and wheels, and the Stans Race Day sealant is an alternative for the Silca Ultimate Tubeless Sealant.

Key features Stan’s Race Day Tubeless Sealant

On the product page of the Stan’s Race Day Tire Sealant you can read the following description:

Developed with world-class athletes and their mechanics, our Race Day Tubeless Tire Sealant provides highly effective puncture sealing performance to riders of all levels during their own race or long distance event.

Our Race Day formula begins with the same proprietary mix in our Original Tubeless Sealant and increases the amount of sealing crystals by 200%. Then, additional XL-sized crystals are added to repair even larger punctures. For best performance, we recommend visually inspecting Race Day sealant in tires every 2-3 weeks to monitor liquid levels.

One liter of Stan’s Race Day Tire Sealant will seal up to 16 tires, consult our sealant volume charts for more detailed guidance. Cannot be installed through a valve–must be installed directly into the tire over the bead.

FEATURES
  • Tested and developed with world class athletes
  • Recommended for race day and long-distance event use
  • Improved sealing capabilities compared to Original Tubeless Sealant formula
  • 200% more sealing crystal than our Original formula, with added XL-sized crystals
  • Must be poured directly into tire–not compatible with injector or other valve install methods

The most important aspect is to keep your tubeless ready tires protected. Of course it all starts with high quality tubeless tires: Vittoria, Maxxis, Pirelli and others.

What I didn’t expect was the fact that you hear the crystals in the sealant when you start spinning or rotating the wheel. In the Silca Ultimate Tubeless Sealant uses foaming latex formula combined with chopped carbon fibers to boost sealing power even at higher pressures. Stans Race Day Sealant has double the amount (or number of crystals) as well as bigger crystals.

What I must find out is for how long the Stan’s Race Day Sealant will stay fluid, compared to the Silca Ultimate Tubeless Sealant (and the Silca Ultimate Tubeless Replenisher). But Stan’s is a well respected player in the Tubeless space, given their wheels, rims but also the well known Stan’s Valve Core Remover.

There are a couple of interesting reviews that I’ve gone through myself, while checking out other high quality tubeless sealants like Stan’s Race Day Sealant:

  • Mountain Bike Rider – “I’ve used Stan’s Original Tubeless Sealant for nearly 20 years …

Concluding thoughts and wrap-up

The price point of a 1000 ml bottle of Stan’s Race Day Tubeless Sealant is around € 38,00 – € 40,00. It should keep around 16 tires safe from puncturing, while riding with low pressure for extra grip.

The Stans Race Day Sealant has a friendly price point (roughly keeps 2 bikes running for a year when you renew every 3 months). Compared to the Silca option to replenish and extend the sealant life span up to a year. So that will be the pattern for me to investigate, on top of the puncture protection.

  • Have you used Stan’s Race Day- or Stan’s Original Tubeless Sealant? What do you think?
  • Have you used any other Stan’s products? Let me know in the comment section.

Stans is a brand with a long reputation in tubeless wheels and light aluminum rims. From rim tape to complete wheel sets. So i’m looking forward to find out how Stan’s Race Day Tubeless Sealant will keep my gravel bike and mountainbike free from punctures (and when I need to refill)
