In this article I will review the Amacx Energy Nougat Bar in flavors Cranberry and Papaya. This Energy Nougat Bar from Amacx Sports Nutrition is 37 grams in weight and consists of about 32 grams of carbohydrates. I will try to compare this energy bar with the Sports Nougat Bar from 6D Sports Nutrition, the Powerbar Energize Original or the Win2 Energy Bar with chia.

It might sound strange, but I like the size of the Energy Nougat Bar. Simply because you can eat in one go. Compared to for example the PowerBar Ride energy bar, which is one or two bites to big. In addition to size of the energy bar the texture and easy digestion are very important to me personally.
If you still recall the good old nougat bars from grandma, the Energy Nougat Bar from Amaxc is very similar. However it is much softer to what I can recall from grandma’s nougat bars (you could break your teeth on these back in the days). As you can see the red cranberry parts are visible in the Energy Nougat Bar. Same is applicable for the papaya flavor, which shows orange papaya parts. Overall the papaya flavor is has a more sweet taste.
Electrolytes are super important during endurance exercise. Amacx Sports Nutrition has added 50 mg of sodium to the Energy Nougat Bar to keep your power curve as high as possible over time. Good to have some extra electrolytes in an energy bar on top of the electrolytes hydration drinks from the water bottles on the bike.

Before we go into the specific break down in nutritional values of the Amacx Energy Nougat Bar, let’s have a look at the total amount of energy per 100 grams and compare against the other energy bars that I’ve reviewed so far:
- Win2 Energy Bar has a total energy of 1955 kJ of energy per 100 grams (but discontinued)
- 6D Sports Nougat Bar provides 1789 kJ of energy per 100 grams
- Amacx Energy Nougat Bar fuels you with 1780 kJ of energy per 100 grams
- Natusport Soft Nougat Sport Bar in flavor Lemon & Salt contains 1773 kJ of energy per 100 grams
- PowerBar Ride energy has 1706 kJ of energy per 100 grams.
- PowerBar Energize Original fuels you with 1560 kJ of energy per 100 grams
So you can see that in terms of energy per 100 grams the Amacx Energy Nougat Bar is on the podium with a 3rd place. But as you can see it is very similar to the 6D Sports Nougat Bar in terms of energy. Where the Amacx Energy Nougat Bar differs is the 50 mg of sodium, to replenish your salt reserves.

Concluding thoughts and wrap-up
The price point of Amacx Energy Nougat Bars is € 26,95 for a pack of 12, which results in a price point of € 2,24 per energy nougat bar. It is a fair price point and in line with the other nutrition brands I’ve reviewed on this website.
