In this article I will share my experiences with the Selle Italia Flite Boost X-Cross TI 316 Superflow Saddle in color grey that I use on my Canyon Grizl CF SL 8 1-by gravel bike. I’m using the S3 version with a saddle width of 135 mm. (while the L3 version has a width of 145 mm.) on top of the Canyon Ergon S15 VCLS 2.0 27.2mm CF Seatpost.

On the product page of the Selle Italia Flite Boost X-Cross Superflow S3 Saddle you can read this product description:
Rugged enough for any trail, yet light enough to top the podium, the Flite Boost X-Cross TI 316 Superflow is the ideal choice for any serious cross-country mountain biker. Built-in shock absorbers and TI 316 rails help smooth out rough, technical trails and are reinforced with SuperFabric inserts, this saddle is one of the most durable on the market. The flat Flite shape improves your range of movement – allowing you to focus on the trail ahead.

I’ve purchased the Selle Italia Flite Boost X-Cross Superflow Saddle with Ti 316 rails for a couple of reasons.
The padding of the Flite Boost X-Cross is ticker and feels a bit like the Fizik Arione VSX Carbon Braided model 2016. Combined with the titanium saddle rails and shock absorbers, this should provide me with sufficient comfort on the Canyon Grizl CF SL8 1-by. The Superflow cut-out also provides some pressure relief on long rides. Please note that this gravel bike doesn’t have any suspension, so all the comfort comes from the wider tires, the saddle and the Canyon S15 VCLS 2.0 CF Seatpost that operates like a spring.

The flat shape of the Selle Italia Flite provides movement. Not as much as the Fizik Arione saddles, that are less optimized for offroad use, but in concept this movement is what I need when the trials are a bit more technical.
Compared to the Selle Italia X-LR Air Cross TM Superflow S Saddle that I ride on the Scott Scale 925 the saddle surface is less grippy. However the Flite Boost X-Cross TI 316 Superflow Saddle has reinforced edges, which is called “superfabric inserts” making the surface very durable. The grey version also combines really well with oregano color of the 2024 Canyon Grizl CF frame (much better than a black saddle).

Concluding thoughts and wrap-up
The price point of the Selle Italia Flite Boost X-Cross TI 316 Superflow Saddle is around € 160,00 in size S3. Of course not a cheap price point, but high quality and highly functional with proven Selle Italia Flite characteristics. For me this saddle is an excellent choice on the Canyon Grizl CF SL 8 1-by gravel bike and paired to a Canyon Ergon S15 VCLS 2.0 CF Seatpost.
- What saddle are you riding on your gravel bike? What brand, what model and why?
