In this article I will review the Enduro Bearings BBT-001/B Pre-load cap tool for Shimano Hollowtech II cranksets. I will try to compare the Enduro Bearings BBT-001/B with my long-term favorite Park Tool BBT-10 Preload cap tool Shimano Hollowtech II cranks (and the RISK cap removal tool via Aliexpress).

This tool is designed to easily and precisely tighten and adjust the bearing preload cap on Shimano cranksets. Designed with a 3/8 inch drive on the back for torque wrench attachment. Torque recommendations for Enduro BB bearing types are laser etched on the flats for convenience. This Enduro tool, like most of our tools, is proudly manufactured to the highest standards at Sonny’s Bike Tools here in California, USA.
The Enduro Bearings BBT-001/B is a super robust tool that will last probably a lifetime (hopefully the pre-load cap connector-shape will last that long as well). The BBT-001/B is build around an aluminum cylinder with 2 flat “grooves” on the side. The other surface has a groove pattern engraved, which gives a solid grip to the tool even when you have a bit of grease on your fingers or mechanic gloves (like the Muc-Off Mechanics Gloves).
As you can read the specific torque specification for the different Enduro Bearings Bottom Bracket types: (XD-15, A/C and Radial). The 3/8″ inch socket on the backside of the BBT-001/B allows for torque wrench attachment, for example the Stahlwille Manoskop 730N/2 Mechanical Torque Wrench 2-20 Nm.
Hand-tightening the Kogel Bearings Shimano Crank Arm Fixing Bolt (preload cap) with the Enduro Bearings BBT-001/B doesn’t require a 3/8″ ratchet, it is robust and stable enough, and works with all Shimano cranksets (also with the Shimano Deore XT M8100 cranks, that are more challenging for the Park Tool BBT-10 Preload cap tool Shimano Hollowtech II cranks).
Concluding thoughts and wrap-up
The price-point of the Enduro Bearings BBT-001/B Pre-load cap tool is around € 25,00 (on the Enduro website € 17,00 excluding shipping). It has the same price range as the Park Tool BBT-10. The Enduro Bearings Pre-load cap tool is from my point of view a bit more user friendly, due to the cylindrical shape and grip on the groves.
In summary the Enduro Bearings BBT-001/B is the preferred tool on the workbench in my garage, where the BSCTools Preload Tool Bit is the lightweight travel option.
