BeSmartBike Holder Garmin Varia RTL515 on Canyon SP0094 Seat Post

In this article I will share my thoughts on the BeSmartBike Holder for Garmin Varia RTL515 on Canyon SP0094 Seat Post of Canyon Ultimate CF SLX 8 Di2. It is a bolt-holder for the Garmin Varia Radar / rear light. The standard Garmin Varia RTL515 holder works with rubber bands that wrap around the seatpost, just like the Sigma Nugget II Flash Rear Light.

Key features BeSmartBike Holder for Garmin Varia RTL515

On the product page if the BeSmartBike Holder for Garmin Varia RTL515 in combination with the Canyon SP0094 Seat Post you can read the following description.

An ultra-light Garmin Varia 515/715 / Wahoo Trackr radar / Trek CarBack / Magene L508 mounted on the rear side of the bike seatpost (SP0066, SP0077, SP0079, SP0094, SP0095, SP0096 Aeropost CF) using the original screw hole. 3D-printed with Nylon Laser Sinterit. Its elegant, subtle shape ensures an aerodynamic look and minimal weight 10 g. You can install it in under 2 minutes without removing the seatpost. Includes two screws and allen key.

A holder for Garmin Varia RTL515 needs to follow the same quality aspects and functional needs as a cycling computer holder. It needs to keep the Garmin Varia RTL515 safe and firmly in place (just like with a cycling computer and for example the SlopeRoad Gear Groove Computer Mount or the Syncros K-Edge Top Cap Computer Mount). This #1 priority feature is checked with the BeSmartBike Holder.

What you directly see -not just from the graphics- are the flow of lines of the holder from the Canyon SP0094 Seat Post attaching points to the Garmin quarter-turn-adapter for the Varia RTL515. The design has a subtle line flow and features a Radar “upper position”. BeSmartBike also offers a Holder for Garmin Varia RTL515 for a “bottom position”. For me the “upper position” variant looks cooler overall and works well in combination with the totsicycling lightweight saddle bag.

Another key feature for me is the fact that the BeSmartBike Holder for Garmin Varia RTL515 is bolted onto Canyon SP0094 Seat Post. So that makes it a very clean looking solution, while being easy to install.

Installation BeSmartBike Holder for Garmin Varia RTL515 on Canyon SP0094 Seat Post

The installation of the BeSmartBike Holder for Garmin Varia RTL515 on Canyon SP0094 Seat Post is super easy.

  1. The Canyon SP0094 Seat Post has two build-in nuts/threads;
  2. Apply a bit of Weldtite TF2 Lithium Grease on the threads of the small bolts with hex-head that are delivered with the BeSmartBike Holder;
  3. Put the small yellow rubber band between BeSmartBike Holder and Canyon SP0094 Seat Post and make sure it is properly aligned with the Holder;
  4. Hand-tighten the lowest bolt first, because that was for me the easiest option;
  5. Hand-tighten the upper bolt (in the center of the Garmin quarter-turn surface);
  6. Tighten both the bolts to specification.

All-in-all an easy process for a home-mechanic. Just be mindful about the torque specification, because the two nuts are build-into the Canyon SP0094 Seat Post of the Canyon Ultimate CF SLX 8.0 Di2.

Concluding thoughts and wrap-up

The price point of BeSmartBike Holder for Garmin Varia RTL515 in combination with the Canyon SP0094 Seat Post is € 25,00 excluding shipping costs (+/- € 15,00), which brings the total € 40,00. While it is not cheap, it is one of the best and most elegant quality options for me.
