The Scicon Sports Race Day Rain Bag has a volume of 16 liters (which is almost the same as a hiking daypack). The dimensions are 34 x 22 x 22 cm (length x width x depth) and according to the product specifications the weight of the Race Day Rain Bag is 900 grams.
The most important aspect for me is organization. While it is designed for pro cyclist teams who need to be able to easily get now clothes or accessories for their riders in a rainy race day. The structure and organization with different pockets, identification labels and even a rider specific velcro patch make it for mechanics easy to grab the right accessories.
This organization and structure of the Race Day Rain Bag keeps my helmet, and shoes also organized when I’m off the bike. Having two of these bags gives me always the option to simply grab a set of gear what I need on a day. In my opinion it is way batter than a normal backpack, and the shape of the Scicon Race Day Rain Bag makes it easy to stash like Lego blocks. 🙂
Used materials are strong and tear resistant, build for professional (ab)use by World Tour cycling teams. I don’t have the specifics about CrossGuard tear-resistant fabric, LinerTex nylon fabric, RinforzTex Pvc fabric or PolyMesh honeycomb mesh fabric, but it looks and feels strong. It reminds me a bit about the ballistic nylon used by Waterfield / SFBags and their Club Cycling Pouch.
Concluding thoughts and wrap-up
The price point of the Scicon Race Day Rain Bag is € 80,61 (discounted from € 155,00). There is also a special Tour de France version available from the Race Day Rain Bag. I simply opted for the “normal” version. I think the price point is fair, especially for a quality product like this.
